Running
Wow, where do I even begin?
As of January 1, 2010, I was not a runner. I did the cross country and track and field thing back in elementary school but that was it. I got into the horses at 9 years old and my riding just kind of took off leaving no time for anything else really.
Last fall, I came across 2 blogs in particular – Healthy Tipping Point and MegaNerdRuns – it turned out that both Caitlin and Megan were friends and training together to run in the Disney World Marathon. I became inspired and decided that I wanted to run. Honestly the thoughts of running came to me out of nowhere! I followed their blogs daily and come January, bought myself a pair of running shoes and started the Couch To 5K running program. I trained my little heart out three times a week on the treadmill in my parents’ basement until I did it. I became a Couch To 5K graduate! On April 3, 2010, I ran my very first 5K race! (recap here) and then in May, even to my surprise, I ran and completed my very first 10K race! (recap here)
Due to time constraints and the insanely hot and humid summer we’ve had so far, my running slid a bit and I haven run in any more races. However, I’m working back at it again and hope to get in at least 2 more this fall! I love how running makes me feel and the sense of accomplishment after a race is like no other.
