About
Welcome!
My name is Laura and I am a 26 y/o Canadian girl on a quest to live the happiest, healthiest and most fulfilling life possible.
I recently became engaged to the most incredible man who at one point in my life, I didn’t believe was out there! What I found with C is love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can’t-live-without-each-other love. You know, that kind Carrie Bradshaw was looking for? Well it’s true! That’s what I have found and it completely blows my mind that I’m going to get the opportunity to feel that for the rest of my life. April 9, 2011 baby!!! C and I have since ‘shacked up’ in my home of 3 years and are just having a blast blending our individual healthy and active lifestyles into our own little joint venture.
More about Me/What I Write About/The Purpose of This Blog:
- I own a horse, named Chelsea. Yes, a horse. I had my first riding lesson at age 9 and never looked back. My parents bought Chelsea for me when I was 16 and she is still a massive part of my life to this day.
- I also have 2 cats, Piper and Boo. Since I stopped at 2, I will defend myself by saying that I am NOT a crazy cat lady. 😉 I’ve never in my life not had a cat in the house. I found Piper in behind my office the summer before my 2nd year of University. He was teeny, only 4 weeks old and I couldn’t just leave him there. He moved all around with me, has been through many ups and downs, and although to anyone else he might be ‘just a cat’, he’s more to me. As for Boo, when Piper and I moved into my big house, he started to get very lonely. He’d literally walk around crying all the time. So off I went to the Humane Society and soon came home with Boo. She’s awesome.
- I am very proud to say that I am a university graduate. In 2006, I graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor Of Arts Honours degree in Classical Studies (Ancient Greek/Roman art/history/literature/languages).
- I am not proud to say that despite my degree, I work in a job that doesn’t reflect my background what-so-ever. It’s a job that pays the bill, it was easy and available when I needed it. Part of my “Quest” is to figure out what I really want to do some day and be happy to work every day.
- I absolutely LOVE to cook and bake. I honestly wish I was disciplined enough to have a food blog like many I follow, but sadly I just don’t have the time. You will see some of my favourite creations on here from time to time though.
- I also love to sew and garden. Wow, I sound like such a Suzie Homemaker! lol At least I’ll really match the part when I become a ‘wife’!
- When I actually have the time to relax, books are one of my favourite escapes. I seem to read more in the cold months, but that’s just because I like to take advantage of as much fresh air time as I can in the summer.
- I don’t really have any purpose to this blog. My posts are always all over the place and are never on the same topics. But that’s ok with me. This is just sort of like my little place to let go and share some things for whoever is interested in reading.
Thanks for the comment on my blog! I always love getting a new ‘follower!’ It looks like we actually have a lot in common. 🙂 I also love to cook, bake, sew and read and I love animals.
Oh and I am working at a job that doesn’t use my degree too. The job market is rough these days!
I see that you’re starting an etsy shop. My etsy page is darkeningstar.etsy.com!
I so relate to working a job that doesn’t reflect your degree/isn’t what you want to do with your life. I am still working on making my dream job work well enough to pay the bills! Good luck. And I stopped at two cats, too, so I figure I’m also not a crazy cat lady. Yet. 🙂
