Literary Failure?

You may or may not have noticed that I’ve been ‘currently reading’ the same book for quite a while now.  I think I’ve been attempting to tackle this book for about a month now and am still only half way through.

The culprit? “Committed” by Elizabeth Gilbert.

I absolutely loved her book “Eat, Pray, Love” so I was very excited to read her newest work. Let’s just say, if I wanted to read a text-book, I’d just go out and buy one.  I know this might sound harsh, but I was expecting much more and am pretty disappointed so far.  The book opens with her story with Filipe, the man she ends up with at the end of “Eat, Pray, Love” however it quickly turns into a text-book about marriage practices in different cultures. Needless to say, I’m now having troubles getting past 3 or 4 pages without wanting to shut my eyes! I gave up on the last book I attempted to read and promised myself I wouldn’t give up on a book again. I’m determined to plow through this baby and can only hope I get to read an actual story instead of pages upon pages of mundane facts.

p.s. My right eye has been twitching for days now… any ideas what’s wrong?
