Oh Canada!

March 1, 2010

I wouldn’t be a true, proud Canadian if I didn’t make a token Olympic post right?

I’ve never really been a huge fan of the Olympics. Yes, it’s cool to watch high action events and watch us win, but the majority of the time it’s just boring. We also never really do that well and it’s only so fun watching the US kick everyone’s butts each Olympic games. Canada just doesn’t have the people or the funding to produce a team like the American one; nor does any other country. So, needless to say, it was nice to see the red and white get some much deserved revenge on the red, white and blue! *I apologize in advance to any of my American readers but…*  BOO YA!

It’s pretty hard not to get all wrapped up in the hype surrounded by Canada doing so well at these Olympic games on our home turf!  I think all Canadians felt an immense sense of pride yesterday after Sidney Crosby scored that winning goal over the US team.  There were even people all over the streets in my small town with flags waving proudly! We not only one the most medals EVER at any Olympic games for our country, but we also broke a record by winning the most GOLD medals as a host country, AND won the most GOLD overall!

…and well, if you really want to get into the technicalities of it all, it doesn’t really matter how many medals you win.  Gold = FIRST PLACE.  Even though the US and Germany won more medals than us overall, we dominated in the GOLDS!  Silver and bronze really are just 2nd and 3rd place… silver and bronze don’t equal a win!!! So, if you really wanted to get technical, our Canadians kicked some butt!!!

Today is another day where I am very proud to be a Canadian.
